An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing senior leader, or a highly successful, aspiring leader to take up the role of Headteacher at St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School. In partnership with Shrewsbury Diocese, we are seeking to appoint an inspirational, supportive and innovative Headteacher to inspire us in the next phase of our journey.

St Augustine's has a strong team of highly committed teaching staff who inspire, support and challenge our young learners to be the best version of themselves possible. We have an engaging, rich and balanced curriculum. As a Catholic school, we provide all of our children with the opportunity to grow as young people and encourage and support them in developing a closer relationship with God.

Our school Mission Statement ‘Following in the Footsteps of Jesus, to Serve Others’ is intrinsic to every aspect of school life and is centred around Gospel values that are lived out and developed every day. We have excellent relationships with our parents and the wider local community, particularly our local feeder high school and we work in partnership with them on projects which benefit our children and the wider community.

The Governing Body are looking to appoint a Headteacher who:

  • Is a committed, practising Catholic with a distinctive vision of Catholic education in the 21st century and who cherishes and supports the Catholic ethos of the school.
  • Is aspirational in approach to the quality of teaching and learning and of the achievement and well-being of every child and will inspire our children, our parents and the whole of the staff team on the next stage of our journey.
  • Is a role model who inspires and motivates others through their commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to raising standards.
  • Is an experienced leader with the interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with staff, children, parents, parish and governors.
  • Is an engaging and hardworking individual, able to collaborate with parents, staff, governors, the parish and wider community in providing opportunities for all pupils.
  • Is a highly effective leader who can manage and organise the personnel, financial and professional needs of the school’s resources and staff.
  • Is a strategic thinker, with a vision to introduce new ideas along with the ability to identify and sustain long-term improvement.

We can offer:

  • A friendly, welcoming school community, underpinned by our strong Catholic ethos.
  • Happy, confident, well-behaved and enthusiastic children.
  • A caring, talented and committed staff, with a strong sense of teamwork.
  • A strong, active and highly supportive governing body.
  • Good opportunities for continuing professional development.
  • Excellent support from our Governors, our partner school, Cardinal Newman Catholic High School and our cluster of local Catholic primary schools.
