We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEND Classroom Teacher to work within a specialist SEND provision in a primary school setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to make a meaningful difference to the lives of primary-aged pupils with EHCPs, the majority of whom have Autism Spectrum Condition and complex learning needs.

The School:
  • Provides specialist support for primary-aged pupils with SEND, including autism and complex learning needs, within a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Focuses on personalised learning, sensory-based approaches and individualised provision to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
  • Promotes high expectations for communication, engagement, positive behaviour and independence, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and valued.
  • Encourages collaborative working between teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to provide consistent, holistic support for every pupil.
The Role:
  • Take responsibility for a designated class of primary-aged pupils with EHCPs, planning and delivering adaptive teaching tailored to individual needs and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver a bespoke sensory curriculum using pupils’ individual sensory profiles, personalised learning objectives and multi-sensory teaching approaches.
  • Use evidence-informed strategies, targeted interventions and assistive technology to support communication, engagement, learning and development.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, adapting teaching through the graduated approach of assess, plan, do and review.
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment that supports emotional regulation, positive behaviour and the development of independence.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers and collaborate with external professionals to support pupils’ wellbeing and progress, including contributing to EHCP reviews.
  • Support safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all pupils, maintaining high professional standards at all times.
The Candidate:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally including children with ASC and complex learning needs.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of EHCP outcomes, personalised learning, adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Can establish a structured and supportive learning environment, using consistent, individualised approaches to promote positive behaviour and independence.
  • Is patient, resilient, reflective and committed to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
