Provide Electrical Engineering support, design and technical engineering advice across UU. Operate within delivery teams, maintaining strong relationships with other disciplines and internal clients. Deliver technical outputs within your UU Engineering Discipline team. The role is based at Lingley Mere and federated into the Merseyside Water team, with future allocation to other teams at the discretion of the Chief Electrical Engineer.
Accountabilities& Responsibilities
- Maintain strong relationships with other disciplines and internal clients
- Deliver a range of projects and provide technical engineering advice throughout UU, including data gathering, analysis, design, preparation of documents, drawings, calculations and specifications
- Review proposals produced by others and provide advice and responses to team members
- Manage the capital programme, operational support and studies & investigations
- Ensure technical delivery of projects within budget and programme to all internal clients
- Deputise for a Senior Engineer when requested
- Raise the profile of UU Electrical Engineering by submitting technical papers or supporting STEM activities
- Develop and improve UU’s engineering standards and procedures
- Conduct all activities in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and Accepted Practice, ensuring all training and processes are adhered to
- Act as Designer in accordance with CDM
- Uphold an appropriate Quality Management System (e.g., checked and verified calculations, drawings, specifications, and UU Company Standards)
- Maintain and develop personal engineering expertise
- Electrically qualified engineer with postgraduate experience or equivalent
- Technically competent and able to influence solutions across UU
- Knowledge of Instrument, Control & Automation (ICA) and detailed knowledge of HV & LV power distribution/utilisation
- Familiarity with general arrangements for electrical equipment integration into building envelopes and site layouts
- Experience in multi‑disciplinary team delivery of capital/strategic projects and operational support in the water industry or other sectors
- Understanding of the project lifecycle from FEED through detailed design, technical assurance, testing & commissioning, and handover
- Knowledge of company standards, procedures, and technologies, plus operating environments, operator skill levels and cost implications of engineering solutions
- Knowledge of process and construction risk analysis techniques such as ARM, HAZOP, HAZCON, HAZCOM
- Ability to communicate to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including presenting technical papers
- Commitment to safety and encouraging others to uphold safety in all aspects of work
- Work autonomously and as part of a team
- Write clear, concise, accurate reports and specifications with measurable outputs, promoting best‑of‑breed standards
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
- Full UK Driving License
