Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Project
As a result of this increasing demand for our services we are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team on the Lightly Shielded Store 1 (LSS1) Project. LSS1 is a 7200m2 footprint major project new build on the Sellafield site. It will be a new class of Intermediate Level Waste store for Sellafield with a design life of 100 years.
As a Structural Engineer your responsibilities could include:
* Undertake structural analysis and design for LSS1 as directed by the Lead Structural Engineer. This will include design of the portal frame, crane support steelwork, secondary steelwork, reinforced concrete raft, walls and slabs. Software such as Tekla, as well as hand calculations will be used.
* Work with the structural designers to ensure the design is translated into the 3D model and that 2D AutoCAD GA and detail drawings are produced from the model as the design progresses through Preliminary and Detailed Design.
* Develop material and workmanship Specifications for the structural elements of the building as the design progresses into Detailed Design.
* Work with other engineering disciplines and the Construction team to ensure the overall design for the Plant is co-ordinated, meets the functional requirements and can be constructed safely and efficiently.
* Fulfil the Designer role under the CDM Regulations
As a Structural Engineer you will already have:
* A Civil / Structural Engineering degree and have achieved or be working towards Chartered status.
* Experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design to Eurocodes, ideally including crane loading. Some experience of reinforcement detailed design and steelwork connection design would be an advantage. Able to undertake design independently and check others work.
* Experience in using structural analysis / design software – ideally Tekla. Familiar with use of 3D models (Revit) and AutoCAD for 2D.
* Working knowledge of CDM.
* Ideally have some nuclear experience but if not, in a similar industrial field.
* Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams.
