Senior Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Salary up to £48,000 + shift supplements
Are you an electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer looking to step into a senior role within a highly automated, technically advanced environment? This is an opportunity to become a key member of an engineering team where your expertise, leadership, and problem‑solving skills truly matter.
The RoleYou'll be working in a modern, heavily automated site (approx. 80%), maintaining and improving a wide range of machinery and systems. The role offers a balanced mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault‑finding, with a strong move towards structured, CMMS‑driven maintenance. This is more than a hands‑on role — you'll be trusted to step up, mentor others, and lead when managers are unavailable, making it ideal for an engineer ready to take on greater responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical isolation and fault‑finding on automated equipment
- PLC fault diagnosis (plug‑and‑play systems)
- Mechanical maintenance including pneumatics, motors, chains, and conveyors
- Maintenance of automation equipment such as conveyors & motorised rollers
- Automated pickers and shuttles
- Packaging, bagging, strapping, and labelling machinery
- Lifts, printers, and production lines
- Completing maintenance reports, documentation, and spare‑parts records
- Working with contractors and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Multi‑skilled engineer (electrical bias preferred, up to 60/40 mechanical acceptable)
- Level 3 qualification (NVQ, Diploma, or equivalent)
- Confident with PLC fault‑finding (Siemens experience desirable)
- Strong understanding of pneumatics, motors, and automated systems
- Physically fit and comfortable working at height
- A proactive engineer with leadership potential and a team‑first mindset
Rotating early, back, and night shifts. 1 in 3 Sundays. 37.5 hours worked per week (paid allowances applied).
Base salary: £43,400+. Typical annual earnings with shift supplements: up to £48,000.
