The role is in a hybrid environment and involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop electrical, control, and instrumentation solutions that protect people, assets, and the environment.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the design and implementation of safety-related electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for a regulated nuclear project.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust safety solutions that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Apply safety lifecycle processes, perform risk assessments, and utilize functional safety methodologies.
- Proven experience in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering with a strong focus on safety system design
- Expertise in designing and verifying safety-related control systems in accordance with relevant nuclear industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in safety lifecycle processes, risk assessment, and functional safety methodologies (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61513)
- Strong technical knowledge of control system architectures, hardware, and software integration
- Ability to interpret and apply complex technical specifications and regulatory guidelines
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety
- Experience working on nuclear or other highly regulated infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with digital instrumentation and control systems, including PLCs and SCADA
- Knowledge of project management principles and experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Exposure to safety case development and safety audit processes
- Certification in functional safety or related professional qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in safety system design, ideally within the nuclear or energy sector
- Willingness to work on-site at the Warrington location, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available
- Commitment to working a minimum of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Eligibility to obtain necessary security clearances for access to nuclear facilities (if applicable)
