DATS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Designer to join a leading engineering team delivering water and utility infrastructure projects. You’ll play a key role in designing safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical systems that keep critical projects running smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
* Deliver accurate and efficient E&I designs, meeting BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and client requirements.
* Produce clear technical deliverables: 2D/3D layouts, containment routing diagrams, loop diagrams, and communication network plans.
* Support projects from design through construction, including site surveys and construction assistance.
* Collaborate with Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil engineers to integrate electrical systems into complex projects.
* Build strong relationships with subcontractors and continually look for ways to improve design processes.
What we’re looking for
* HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Practical experience in electrical installation design, preferably in the water or utilities sector.
* Strong knowledge of BSth Edition) and E&I design best practices.
* Experience under CDM Regulations 2015 as a ‘Designer’.
* Hazardous area design experience, including intrinsically safe calculations and inspection schedules.
* Skilled in AutoCAD LT, Relux/Dialux, Trimble (Amtech) Pro Design Suite, Microsoft Office, Aveva, Navisworks, and Revit.
