The role

As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions within highly regulated, safety‑critical nuclear environments. Your expertise will directly support safe plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long‑term infrastructure resilience.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:
  • Leading the design, specification, and integration of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for nuclear projects
  • Delivering technically robust solutions that meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, safety, commissioning, and project management
  • Engaging with regulators, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure full technical and regulatory alignment
  • Producing and reviewing high‑quality technical documentation, calculations, and safety case contributions.

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, based at any of our main Cavendish locations including Warrington, Bristol, Leicester, Humberside or Cumbria. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of working 3 days on site.

Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer:
  • Proven experience designing and delivering EC&I systems within regulated or safety‑critical environments
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear or comparable industry standards, including functional safety requirements
  • Experience working across complex engineering projects from concept through delivery
  • Confidence interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
  • Track record of producing high‑quality, auditable technical outputs
Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Engineer:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, or Systems Engineering
  • Professional registration or working toward chartership is advantageous
