Principal Civil & Structural Engineer
Locations:
London, Newcastle, Warrington, Bristol, Gloucester or Knutsford
Job Type: Permanent | Full Time (40 hours per week)
Salary:
Competitive, DOE
- Lead civil and structural engineering activities across the full project lifecycle.
- Act as Responsible Engineer and provide technical leadership on major projects.
- Ensure delivery of engineering packages to cost, programme, quality, and safety requirements.
- Lead and review safety case documentation, design substantiation, calculations, technical reports, and specifications.
- Provide technical governance and quality assurance for safety‑critical systems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop engineers within the wider team.
- Support business development, proposals, and client growth opportunities.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering delivery.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (BEng/BSc/MEng/MSc).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised professional institution.
- Significant experience within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.
- Previous experience in a senior technical leadership, Responsible Engineer, or team management role.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering design, standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with finite element analysis and engineering design tools.
- Knowledge of ACI, ASCE, and AISC standards is desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM environments and UK nuclear licensing processes would be advantageous.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
