Role descriptionWe currently have an opportunity for a Civil Structural Senior Engineer – Rail to join our Rail North West & Central Business Unit. In this role, you will lead the delivery of civil and structural engineering design packages for rail infrastructure projects, ensuring technical outputs meet project, client and industry requirements.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, project managers and stakeholders to develop integrated, practical and high-quality engineering solutions.
In this role, you will:- Lead the delivery of civil and structural design packages for rail infrastructure projects.
- Prepare, review and verify calculations, drawings, reports and technical deliverables.
- Develop civil and structural engineering solutions for assets such as bridges, foundations, retaining structures, stations and related rail infrastructure.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective design integration.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
- Support design reviews, technical assurance activities and the resolution of engineering issues.
- Identify and manage design risks in line with project requirements and relevant standards.
- Liaise with project managers, clients and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Ensure deliverables comply with Arcadis requirements, national standards and codes of practice.
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant civil/structural design experience, preferably within a rail or major infrastructure environment.
- Experience preparing and checking engineering calculations, drawings and technical reports.
- Knowledge of structural design principles, relevant codes, standards and risk management.
- Experience using structural analysis and design software would be advantageous.
- Ability to provide technical guidance to project team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a professional institution desirable.
