This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced multidisciplinary design team, taking ownership of technical delivery while supporting the development of junior designers and contributing to nationally significant infrastructure programmes.
The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Designer to provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of nuclear engineering projects. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will support the delivery of electrical, control and instrumentation designs throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to manufacture, installation and in‑service support. In addition to producing high‑quality technical designs, you will provide guidance to other designers, ensure compliance with engineering standards and contribute to the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects.
Hybrid working is available, with the role based from either Warrington or Preston.
- Produce and oversee high-quality EC&I design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop electrical, control and instrumentation designs from concept through to detailed design and in‑service support.
- Ensure technical outputs comply with project requirements, engineering standards and regulatory expectations.
- Provide specialist technical advice to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Allocate work and provide technical guidance to a team of designers.
- Review and check engineering drawings, models and documentation to ensure quality and consistency.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Promote engineering best practice and continuous improvement within the design team.
- Support the successful delivery of projects to agreed quality, cost and programme objectives.
- Lead low-risk multidisciplinary design packages and coordinate technical activities.
- Assist Project Managers and Lead Engineers with planning, estimating and resource requirements.
- Resolve manufacturing, installation and commissioning queries through effective technical support.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, clients and supply chain partners.
- Participate in technical reviews, design meetings and customer discussions.
- Support the development of long-term client relationships through the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
- Contribute to business development activities where technical expertise is required.
- Ensure engineering drawings and technical documentation comply with recognised drafting standards and company procedures.
- Maintain configuration control and document management throughout project delivery.
- Promote compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, engineering standards and industry best practice.
- Experience working within a detailed engineering design environment.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation design principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering design tools.
- Good understanding of general engineering drawing practices and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating or supervising technical design activities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
