To aid this we have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Criticality Consultant to join our dynamic consultancy team supporting the delivery of our exciting and diverse portfolio of projects. You will work with subject matter experts harnessing their knowledge to meet client expectations and to deliver value across all areas of the Nuclear Industry. The RoleRoutinely, the work involves construction and running of computer simulations for k-effective analysis, using standardised software packages, to determine Safe and Critical Limits, and, Criticality Safety Assessment / HAZAN production. Compilation of formal reports and / or datasets outlining the findings is required. There is a great deal of variety in applications of the expertise we provide, from criticality analysis to radiation shielding in support of nuclear industry, to radiation shielding in research and medical applications, to radiation energy deposition and induced displacements per atom in support of damage analysis for concept technologies.
Other duties will include independent quality assurance of calculations and reports, liaising with clients on a regular basis, project management duties and formal pricing of support on request.
Essential Specific Skills, Knowledge, Competencies and Training- Experience in performing Criticality Safety Assessment and attending HAZID Workshops.
- Experience in Monte-Carlo keff Calculations (e.g. using MONK, MCNP or other).
- Good interpersonal skills to interact and engage with clients and team members.
- Evidence of the ability to manage time and deadlines.
- Flexibility and capacity to prioritise and deliver multiple tasks in an effective manner.
- Ability to remain positive in challenging situations.
- Radiation Physics & Shielding Experience including relevant software e.g. MCNP, Attila, MCBEND, FLUKA or other.
- Scripting / Programming expertise in language(s) such as Python, Perl, C++, Mat Lab.
- Completion of an academic (e.g. MPhys or PhD) project with relevance to the role.
- Minimum BSc in Physics or Physics related discipline (Masters or PhD level qualifications an advantage).
- Nuclear Industry experience specific to Criticality Safety.
