Principal EC&I Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join a major UK nuclear engineering programme. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer with a strong technical background and proven leadership experience to support the delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.
As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring engineering outputs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement, technical assurance, team development, and the successful delivery of project objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Supervise engineers and technical specialists.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed to agreed scope, quality, schedule and budget.
- Provide technical leadership and governance across engineering activities.
- Review, verify and approve calculations, analyses, technical reports, specifications and method statements.
- Manage customer relationships and support resolution of technical and delivery issues.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable procedures, standards and codes.
- Support resource planning and capability development.
- Drive engineering best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support business development activities, proposals and tender reviews.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to Health & Safety requirements.
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Significant engineering experience within complex project environments.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering technical work packages.
- Strong understanding of engineering governance, assurance and quality processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide expert technical guidance.
- Nuclear, defence or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience across full project life cycles from concept through EPC delivery.
- Membership of a recognised engineering institution.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders and business-winning activities.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.
