Job Description & How to Apply Below
How tenders get run, which jobs get chased, the way estimating works with delivery: none of that is settled yet, and the people in first tend to be the ones who settle it. What makes that attractive rather than risky is the business behind it, which has been trading for over two decades and works mostly for clients who have used it before.
You would be pricing electrical packages on schemes between £4 million and £30 million, for major developers and main contractors. This is a permanent role in Warrington, £60,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package. About the Business A business that earns most of its revenue from clients who have used it before is a different place to estimate for.
Pricing into an established relationship means better information at the start, a client who will pick up the phone when something is ambiguous, and less of the defensive pricing that goes into a bid for somebody you have never worked with. Our client is a family-owned M&E engineering group with more than twenty years behind it, covering mechanical and electrical services, fire and security, thermal, renewables and facilities management.
They work for major developers, main contractors and industrial operators across the UK on schemes between £4 million and £30 million, spanning education, residential, commercial, industrial, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, retail and aerospace. More than 75% of revenue comes from clients who have used them before, and the business holds NICEIC, Gas Safe, CHAS, SMAS Worksafe and Construction line accreditations. The new North-West office in Warrington opens on the back of recent project wins, following a Midlands office opened a short while ago.
The in-house academy is worth noting for what it says about time horizon. A contractor that trains its own engineers is planning further ahead than the next tender, and that is the sort of business in which a new office is more likely to still be there in five years. What You'll Be Doing Preparing accurate, competitive electrical tenders for main contractors and clients Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to establish the full electrical scope Carrying out take-offs across power, lighting, containment, LV distribution, fire alarm and security systems Issuing supplier and subcontractor enquiries, then analysing and levelling the returns Working with the Mechanical Estimator to produce coordinated M&E submissions Identifying risk, exclusions, qualifications and value engineering opportunities Attending tender reviews and supporting post-tender negotiations Handing secured projects over to the delivery team with the pricing rationale set out clearly What We're Looking For Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator with an M&E or electrical contractor A track record pricing multi-million-pound electrical packages for main contractors A strong technical understanding of electrical building services Proficient with estimating software and take-off tools Well organised, and comfortable running several tenders to deadline at once A relevant electrical qualification, whether HNC or an apprenticeship background Full UK driving licence Experience on education, residential, commercial or industrial schemes is an advantage, though not essential.
What's on Offer £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience £4m - £30m (Project values) Full company benefits package A say in how the North-West office runs, rather than arriving once it is settled A steady pipeline of large tenders from leading main contractors The backing of a long-established family business with a mostly repeat client base
