The post is within the Housing Standards & Assistance team which covers enforcement of housing standards and provision of housing grants and loans to vulnerable people, mainly through Disabled Facilities Grants but also via other discretionary assistance. The successful applicant will report to the Team Manager Housing Standards and will work within a multi-disciplinary team including environmental health officers, surveyors and occupational therapists.
Therole
This is an opportunity to join a small but friendly team who are keen to improve housing standards within the borough. The specific role is for an environmental health officer specialising in housing enforcement. Day to day activities will include responding to service requests from tenants mainly relating to disrepair; inspecting houses in multiple occupation and processing HMO licence applications; and generally enforcing housing conditions within the borough, including the service of legal notices, serving civil penalties and leading on prosecutions where necessary.
You will be able to arrange your own appointments and work in a hybrid fashion to suit the needs of the job. The working week is 37 hours and flexi time applies.
The candidate must be a qualified Environmental Health Officer, preferably with housing experience.
