We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Thorn Cross. HMP Thorn Cross is a Category D / open prison in Appleton Thorn, Warrington, housing around 430 males. sentences. This role sits within our Primary Care team, where you will support with clinics, work with pharmacy and respond to emergency situations - no 2 days are ever the same!
Responsibilities- Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
- Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
- Support the primary care nursing team with all aspects of care
- Support clinics, including bloods, ECGs, weight etc
- Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
- You will primarily be working within the primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the substance misuse or mental health teams

Qualifications- Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
- Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
- Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
- Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
- Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach

This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week.
Shifts are 7;30am - 5:30 Monday - Friday - 4 shifts per week. Weekends are 7:15am - 12:00 - approximately 1 in 3 weekends. Salary You will receive an annual salary of between £25,557 - £29,723 per annum depending on experience.
