Duration: 3 months initially, with possible extension
Hourly Rate: £25–£26
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full-time

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Locum Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian (Band
6) to join a dedicated paediatric diabetes service within a reputable NHS Trust in Warrington. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, family‑centred dietetic care to children and young people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary diabetes team including Consultants, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Psychologists, and other Allied Health Professionals, contributing to structured diabetes education, nutritional assessments, and ongoing support for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist dietetic assessment and management for paediatric diabetes patients.
  • Deliver structured diabetes education to children, families, and carers.
  • Support carbohydrate counting, insulin‑to‑carbohydrate ratio education, and weight management where appropriate.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary diabetes clinics and case discussions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Participate in audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Offer advice aligned with national paediatric diabetes guidelines and clinical best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience in paediatrics and diabetes (essential).
  • Strong understanding of carbohydrate counting, paediatric nutrition, and diabetes management.
  • Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and patient education skills.
  • A proactive, compassionate, and family‑focused approach to care.
