Traine Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
We have an opportunity available for a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join the team within our Psychological Wellbeing Service based in Warrington, WA2 7JB
.
- Attend all taught sessions and complete required self‑study days as part of the NHS Talking Therapies programme.
- Work in the service applying and developing the knowledge and skills gained through training.
- Play a key part in supporting individuals with common mental health problems by delivering evidence‑based interventions and promoting recovery and wellbeing.
- Adhere to service referral protocols to decide on the suitability of new referrals.
- Assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self‑management of their recovery.
- Undertake patient‑centred assessments to identify areas where the person wishes to see change and assess risk to self and others, managing or escalating risk in line with service protocols.
- Provide a range of information and support for evidence‑based, high‑volume, low‑intensity psychological treatments (e.g., guided self‑help, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments).
- Produce clear, accurate and professional written correspondence to GPs, referrers and other professionals in line with service protocols, confidentiality and clinical governance requirements.
- Educate and involve family members, carers and others in treatment when necessary.
- Adhere to agreed activity requirements relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out each week.
- Attend multi‑disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service, keeping coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and using these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.
- Work closely with other members of the team, ensuring appropriate step‑up and step‑down arrangements to maintain a stepped care approach.
- Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
- Attend and fulfil all requirements of the training element of the post, including practical, academic and practice‑based assessments.
- Receive supervision from educational providers in relation to coursework and prepare and present clinical information for all patients on the caseload to clinical case‑management supervisors on an agreed and scheduled basis.
- Respond to and implement supervision suggestions in clinical practice, and engage in personal development supervision to improve competence and clinical practice.
- Ensure standards of practice are maintained according to the employer, the education provider, relevant regulating bodies and current national guidance.
- Ensure client confidentiality is protected and all information processed for service users and staff is accurate, confidential, secure and in line with data protection, security and confidentiality policies.
- Keep up to date with advances in the treatment of common mental health problems, legislation, national and local policies, and procedures relevant to mental health and primary care services.
- Contribute to the development of best practice within the service and attend relevant conferences, workshops or training in line with identified professional objectives.
- Take responsibility for personal health and safety, and for the health and safety of colleagues, service users and the general public.
- Report safeguarding, clinical risk or whistleblowing concerns to an appropriate senior colleague, manager, senior manager or the relevant external authority where required.
- Undertake any other duties in order to meet personal, team and organisational objectives following consultation with your manager.
- Evidence of ability to study successfully at postgraduate level.
- Ability to meet all requirements of the PWP training, including taught days, self‑study, practical assessments and practice‑based assessments.
- Commitment to continue learning and apply the National Low Intensity curriculum in practice.
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
