Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled nurse to join our existing team of Upper GI Clinical Nurse Specialists at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in a full time post for 12 months. The post holder will need to have experience within Colorectal pathways and will need to demonstrate extensive leadership skills.

The post holder will provide expert clinical and supportive care for patients diagnosed with Upper GI cancers and work with the Local Multidisciplinary Team and Regional Specialist Multidisciplinary Teams in supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, providing individualised, compassionate and informed patient care.

To be responsible for providing appropriate specialist advice, support and education to patients throughout the Upper GI Cancer pathway, from diagnosis to treatment end.

To play a pivotal role within the Upper GI Cancer team providing: specialist information; high quality care; assessment, advice and support for those patients on a suspected Upper GI cancer pathway having investigative procedures and eventual diagnosis and treatment of a Upper GI cancer. This will extend to their families / carers and other Health Care Professionals both internal and external to the Trust, which will promote a seamless service within a multi-professional framework.

They will provide guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior members of staff.

To ensure the quality of care to patients is maximised by establishing strong communication links with specialist multidisciplinary teams in Liverpool and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

To ensure that national cancer targets are met along the patients pathway; alerting appropriate personnel to preventing potential breaches.

• RGN, Educated to degree level, evidence of ongoing professional development

• Advanced Communication skills training

• Qualified for at least 2 years, Current experience in Urology cancer, experience of implementing change
