Band 8a Pharmacist

Bluestones Medical is currently seeking an experienced Band 8a Pharmacist to support an established NHS service in the Warrington and Halton area.

This is an ongoing block booking through to the end of December, providing an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist looking for consistent work and continuity within a clinical setting.

The role will involve providing specialist clinical pharmacy leadership and support across medical services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines.

• Providing specialist clinical pharmacy advice across medical services
• Undertaking medicines reconciliation and clinical medication reviews
• Providing specialist pharmaceutical advice to clinical teams
• Supporting the prescribing and monitoring of high-risk medicines
• Supporting safe and timely patient discharge
• Undertaking independent prescribing within appropriate competence and authorisation
• Supporting workload prioritisation, service delivery and continuity
• Contributing to medicines governance, incident reviews and risk management
• Developing and reviewing clinical guidelines, protocols and procedures
• Supporting clinical audits, medicines optimisation and service improvement
• Monitoring service performance and contributing to improvement initiatives
• Providing education to pharmacy and clinical staff, patients and carers
• Supervising, supporting and developing junior pharmacists and trainees
• Providing cross-site support within the local service where required

• Current General Pharmaceutical Council registration
• Previous experience working at Band 8a or equivalent senior clinical pharmacist level
• Strong clinical pharmacy experience within a hospital or secondary care environment
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams and medical services
• Strong knowledge of medicines optimisation and clinical governance
• Experience with medicines reconciliation and clinical medication reviews
• Independent prescribing qualification and experience, where required for the role
• Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
• Flexibility to provide cross-site support within the Warrington and Halton area where required
• Availability for an ongoing block booking through to the end of December is highly desirable
