Supporting a manufacturing site, you will be the first point of contact for day-to-day HR matters, building strong relationships with managers and employees and providing practical, commercially focused HR advice. This is a broad role offering exposure across employee relations, absence, recruitment, engagement, performance, HR systems and wider People initiatives. For someone looking to continue developing their HR career, there is also genuine opportunity for the remit to grow over time.
The role Working closely with the Group People leadership team and site management, you will:
Act as the key HR contact for the Warrington manufacturing site Provide advice and guidance to managers across HR policy, employment law and best practice Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and other complex people issues Lead on attendance management, including short and long-term absence and return-to-work processes Build trusted relationships with managers, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice Support recruitment across the site, including onboarding and induction Support performance improvement and employee development initiatives Contribute to employee engagement, retention and talent initiatives Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems and people data Produce HR information, KPIs and reports Review and update HR policies and procedures in line with legislation and business requirements Work collaboratively with Finance and Payroll Contribute to wider People projects, organisational change and continuous improvement Support the ongoing development of HR systems and processes What we're looking for We are looking for an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and being visible within an operational environment.
You will ideally bring:
Solid HR Officer or HR Advisor-level generalist experience Strong practical employee relations experience, including managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
Experience with in manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, warehousing or a similarly fast-paced operational environment Confidence advising and, where necessary, constructively challenging managers Strong relationship-building and communication skills A hands-on, pragmatic and commercially aware approach Excellent organisation and attention to detail The ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate more complex matters CIPD qualification would be advantageous, although strong relevant experience is equally important If you are an experienced HR Officer or HR Advisor who enjoys working within a fast-paced operational environment and would like the opportunity to take real ownership of HR at site level, we'd love to hear from you.
