At Skilled Up Life, we empower individuals to gain valuable real‑world experience that accelerates their careers, while enabling tech startups to grow with the support of skilled Volunteers. Our global community has grown to over 57,500 Volunteers across 146 countries, helping hundreds of startups—primarily in the UK and USA—scale sustainably.

This is not a traditional corporate L&D role. We don’t need decades of experience. We don’t need someone who has worked in a formal training department. We’re looking for someone who can:

• Bring simplicity and structure into chaos
• Translate complex information into clear training materials
• Build documentation, onboarding guides, and learning processes from scratch
• Collaborate with teams to extract technical knowledge
• Create buy‑in through clarity, enthusiasm, and communication
• Take ownership without waiting for step‑by‑step instructions

If you enjoy enabling others, love organising knowledge, and think learning should feel straightforward rather than overwhelming—you might be exactly who we need.

You will help shape the foundations of our new L&D function. Tasks may include:

• Creating simple, clear training materials for various teams
• Turning "messy" information into organised documentation
• Mapping out processes and building easy‑to‑follow guides
• Collaborating with team leaders to understand their workflows
• Structuring onboarding journeys for new volunteers
• Helping us understand which training areas matter most
• Building processes that can scale across a global volunteer organisation

You may be a strong fit if you:

• Love simplifying things and bringing order to confusion
• Communicate with warmth, clarity, and enthusiasm
• Can explain complex ideas in simple ways
• Are curious, self‑directed, and proactive
• Feel excited about building something that doesn’t exist yet
• Have created any kind of documentation, SOP, onboarding guide, or training materials before (professionally or personally)

You don’t need to be an expert. You do need a genuine passion for learning and enabling others.

• People exploring an L&D or documentation career

• Creating structure where none existed
• Explaining something complex in a simple, engaging way
• Writing or improving documentation

Enthusiasm, clarity, and curiosity matter more than your résumé.

• 3 hrs. per day Monday to Friday
• 60 Volunteer Days over 3+ months
• Part‑time
• Fully remote

• Building an L&D function from the ground up
• Documentation, instructional design, and process creation
• Working cross‑functionally with distributed teams
• Understanding how learning supports productivity and operations
• Creating real, tangible learning tools that help hundreds of volunteers

This is a voluntary position, i.e. there is no direct financial compensation, a promise of future paid work or any taxable benefit in kind.
