Group Head of Legal – Property & Commercial

An Exceptional Opportunity to Lead the Legal Function of a Growing UK Group

Indevor Group is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute legal professional to join our senior leadership team as Group Head of Legal – Property & Commercial.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor, Associate or Senior Associate who is ready to take the next step into a high-profile, in-house leadership position.

Reporting directly to the Group Board, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the continued growth of a successful, multi-disciplinary organisation operating across the UK property, house building, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

With significant autonomy, direct access to senior decision-makers and exposure to complex commercial transactions, this position offers the opportunity to shape the Group's legal strategy while making a genuine impact on the business.

The Role

As Group Head of Legal, you will take ownership of the Group's legal matters, providing commercially focused advice and ensuring legal considerations are effectively managed across its various businesses.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Leading and overseeing legal matters across the Group, with a particular focus on commercial property, land transactions and development agreements.

* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex legal documentation, including land transfers, easements, deeds, leases and commercial agreements.

* Advising on Section 106 agreements, planning obligations and legal matters associated with residential and commercial developments.

* Supporting legal transactions relating to utility infrastructure, land ownership, property development and asset adoption.

* Providing strategic legal guidance to the CEO, Group Board and senior management team.

* Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal and commercial risks across the business.

* Working closely with operational and commercial teams to support projects, transactions and business growth.

* Managing relationships with external solicitors, legal advisers and other professional stakeholders.

* Developing and strengthening legal processes, governance frameworks and contractual procedures.

* Ensuring legal advice is practical, commercially balanced and aligned with the Group's wider objectives.

About You

We are looking for a confident, technically accomplished solicitor who combines strong property law expertise with excellent commercial judgement.

Essential requirements:

* Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).

* Strong background in commercial property, real estate or development-related legal work.

* Experience handling land transactions, development agreements, easements and complex property documentation.

* Sound understanding of Section 106 agreements and planning-related legal obligations.

* Demonstrable experience negotiating contracts and advising on legal and commercial risk.

* Ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to senior stakeholders and non-legal colleagues.

* Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to work autonomously.

Desirable experience:

* Currently operating at Associate, Senior Associate, Legal Director or Head of Legal level.

* Experience advising house builders, property developers, infrastructure providers or utility businesses.

* Understanding of residential development, land acquisition and infrastructure agreements.

* Previous exposure to in-house legal functions or advising corporate clients on a broad range of commercial matters.

* Experience working directly with Boards, business owners or senior leadership teams.

We would particularly welcome…
