Procurement Assistant/Category support Buyer
Location:
Warrington (3 days per week in the office) Are you a procurement professional with experience in the public sector and a good working knowledge of Public Procurement Regulations? This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading procurement and supply chain organisation supporting the healthcare, housing, and education sectors, helping clients achieve compliant, value-driven procurement outcomes. The Opportunity We are seeking a Prcocurement Assistant to support the delivery of procurement projects, frameworks, and contracts across a range of spend categories.
Working closely with Category Managers, you will play a key role in running compliant procurement exercises, engaging with suppliers and stakeholders, and ensuring customers receive expert procurement support. This role is ideal for someone with public sector procurement experience who is looking to develop their category management expertise within a collaborative and highly respected procurement organisation.
Key Responsibilities Support and lead procurement activity in line with the Public Procurement Act 2023 and wider public sector procurement regulations. Manage tenders, mini-competitions, call-off contracts, and framework agreements. Assist in the development and delivery of category strategies. Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Analyse spend, market, and supplier data to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Monitor contract and supplier performance to drive value, compliance, and service improvement.
Provide procurement advice and support to customers across a diverse client base. About You Experience in procurement, sourcing, or contract management, ideally within the public sector, housing, healthcare, education, or framework environment. Working knowledge of public procurement legislation, including the Public Procurement Act 2023 . Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills - advanced Excel highly desirable Organised, commercially aware, and passionate about delivering compliant procurement solutions.
