United Utilities is looking for a Streetworks Assurance Manager to drive compliance with NRSWA, TMA and all associated street works legislation. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day street works activities, guide our teams, and act as the key link between our operational needs and our statutory obligations. This is a role for someone who thrives on influencing best practice, managing stakeholders and reducing financial and reputational risk across a major FTSE 100 utility.

What

You’ll Do
  • Oversee permitting, S81s, cost‑of‑failure, damage claims and all street works transactions
  • Lead Stakeholder Managers to improve compliance and minimise risk
  • Act as UU’s technical expert and focal point for all street works legislation
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, partners, Highways Authorities and industry bodies
  • Represent UU at NWHAUC, NJUG and other regional/national forums
  • Share key updates from utilities, highways and trade organisations across the business
  • Support the introduction of new legislation, systems, materials and working methods
  • Help develop and review policies and procedures
  • Deputise for the Street Works Assurance & Compliance Manager / Head of Street Works when required
  • Monitor compliance performance and identify technical improvements
  • Lead benchmarking, business improvement initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration
What You’ll Bring
  • Deep knowledge of NRSWA, TMA, SROH and street works best practice
  • Strong stakeholder‑management and communication skills
  • Proven leadership and people‑management experience
  • Excellent planning, organisation and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to represent the company externally with confidence
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Full UK driving licence
