We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Controller to join our Strategic Highways Area 7 team based in Newton-le-Willows, Warrington
.

Working within a fast-paced operational environment, you will play a key role in coordinating incident response activities across the strategic road network, ensuring a safe and efficient service for road users and stakeholders alike.

This is a fully site-based role operating on a rotating shift pattern.

Working at Amey puts you at the centre of an inspiring expert team. You will have the opportunity to support critical highway operations, coordinating resources and responding to incidents that directly impact road user safety and network availability.

• 12-hour shifts
• 4 days on, 4 days off
• 4 nights on, 4 days off
• Overtime opportunities available

• Coordinating Incident Response Teams (IRT) across the strategic highway network
• Deploying crews to accidents, incidents and emergency situations
• Managing defects reported by inspectors, the police and other stakeholders
• Acting as a central point of communication between operational teams and stakeholders
• Supporting daily operational handovers to ensure continuity of service

  We Want to Hear From You If You Have
  • Experience with in a fast-paced operational, highways, infrastructure or engineering environment
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to make decisions confidently under pressure
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering customer-focused outcomes
  • HNC/HND qualification or equivalent
  • Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Experience of bridge and highway structures
  • Experience supporting inspection and maintenance projects
  • Previous line management or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of highway inspection and maintenance regimes
