Permanent Position

About the Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturer of scaffolding components, supplying high-quality fabricated products to customers across the construction and access sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Fabrication Engineer to join their close-knit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Welder Fabricator who combines strong hands-on fabrication expertise with technical drawing and CAD capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in both production and product development activities within a supportive, family-oriented working environment.
The Role
As a Fabrication Engineer, you will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying and improving a range of scaffolding and access-related components. Working closely with production and management teams, you will support the design, fabrication and continuous improvement of products while ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards.
This role offers a varied workload, combining practical workshop activities with technical and project-based responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Fabricate, weld and assemble scaffolding components and associated steelwork.
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and fabrication instructions.
* Produce and amend technical drawings using CAD software.
* Develop manufacturing drawings for production purposes.
* Ensure all fabrication and welding activities comply with relevant British Standards and quality requirements.
* Carry out inspections and quality checks on completed products.
* Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with production teams to improve manufacturing processes and efficiency.
* Assist with material selection, procurement support and production planning.
* Lead small-scale engineering and fabrication projects when required.
* Provide technical guidance and support to workshop personnel.
* Maintain a safe working environment and comply with company HSE procedures.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
* 5–10 years' experience within a fabrication, welding or manufacturing environment.
* Time-served Welder Fabricator or equivalent engineering qualification.
* Strong MIG welding experience (TIG and MMA advantageous).
* Experience working with structural steel, fabricated assemblies or construction-related products.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor or similar).
* Knowledge of relevant British Standards relating to welding and fabrication.
* Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
* Welding qualifications to recognised BS/EN standards.
* Experience with in scaffolding, access equipment, structural steelwork or construction products manufacturing.
* Project leadership or supervisory experience.
* Understanding of manufacturing process improvement techniques.
