Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care Team at HMP Risley, a Category C Prison located in Warrington. HMP Risley is a male prison with a population of 1,000. The role requires working within a team of 24 based within the healthcare department, with some wing work required. Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
  • Deliver nurse‑led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, seeking out, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise care.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care and foster an environment that makes a real difference.
  • Inspire excellence, forge strong links with partners and stakeholders, and promote best practice, clinical supervision, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support the development of your skills and experience through internal and external learning opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered Nurse Adult – NMC certification.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multidisciplinary and multi‑agency working.
  • Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ideal but not essential: experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
  • Experience working in secure environments is highly valued.

Salary and Contract

Full‑time position. Annual salary between £34,428 and £41,659 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
