Job Purpose

We’re offering three fantastic opportunities for Operational Property Surveyors to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The Operational Property Team within Property Services manages all operational assets owned and leased by United Utilities Water. The team handles lease management, landlord and tenant issues, and oversees site optimisation to ensure surplus land delivers maximum value.

In this role, you will assess the company’s surplus land portfolio, conducting site surveys, inspections, and valuations to achieve best value. You will support strategic land decisions and maximise organisational benefits. Working independently and collaboratively, you will manage a diverse property portfolio across urban and operational holdings. Additionally, you will handle your own cases and provide advice to internal teams, external stakeholders, and third parties.

Accountabilities

& Responsibilities
  • Apply valuation techniques to determine land and property values, including rental income.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and measurements to support accurate valuations.
  • Review surplus land assets to identify opportunities for optimisation and disposal.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on survey findings. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and alignment with business objectives.

    Support the Site Optimisation Manager and wider team in delivering valuation projects and strategic property initiatives.

This role may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.

Technical Skills & Experience
  • RICS Chartered Surveyor status or actively working towards accreditation (APC pathway).
  • Proven experience in land surveying, valuation, and property assessment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

A Full, valid UK driving licence will be required to carry out this role.
