About the role
As the Post Office Branch Manager, you will deliver excellent retail standards, ensure compliance with Post Office regulations, drive sales and customer service, and lead and develop your team.
Responsibilities- Review and act on retail standard feedback from the AM.
- Maintain performance indicators: green scores on One Stop audits, and successful results in Post Office Ltd Mystery shopper visits.
- Ensure correct products are advertised and available, including information leaflets.
- Provide prompt, positive customer service and inform customers of all available service options.
- Support retail operations, manage product inventory, monitor cash availability, and process cash declarations accurately.
- Implement solutions to improve audit scores, address hazards, and act on potential loss or transaction errors.
- Ensure all audit actions, training, and regulatory compliance requirements are completed within required timelines.
- Recruit, train, pay, and manage staff in line with people processes, and achieve staffing targets within 4 weeks.
- Encourage performance reviews, conduct one‑to‑ones, and implement succession plans.
- Drive the team towards meeting post office standard targets and achieve budgets or better across controllable lines.
- Maintain high safety, health, and welfare standards for colleagues and customers.
- Promote post office add‑on sales and new product knowledge among customers.
- Experience in a retail or post office environment.
- Strong knowledge of post office procedures, policies and regulations.
- Excellent customer service, communication and team‑leadership skills.
- Proactive approach to training, compliance and people management.
- Ability to analyse audit results and implement corrective action.
- Strong organisational and people‑handling skills with a focus on building a high‑performing team.
