Solar PV Installer
Permanent, Nationwide
Morson Edge are recruiting an experienced Solar PV Installer to join a leading UK commercial and industrial rooftop solar business. This is a nationwide role offering consistent work, autonomy on site and a place in a well established renewables operation that continues to grow.
While the role is nationwide, the client’s head office is based in Warrington. All initial training and onboarding will be carried out from the Warrington office before you move onto live projects across the UK.
You’ll work Monday to Thursday, travelling nationwide with regular overnight stays, typically four nights per week. All accommodation is fully expensed, with food and overnight allowances paid on top.
The role
This is a hands on position for an installer who knows their trade and can be trusted to get on with the job. You’ll deliver commercial scale solar PV installations safely and efficiently, often working independently while supporting junior installers on site.
What you’ll be doing
Installing commercial and industrial rooftop solar PV systems independently
Completing site readiness checks and confirming materials before installation
Working from drawings, roof plans, string layouts and cable routing diagrams
Installing panels, mounting systems and associated DC infrastructure
Planning inverter locations and DC cable routes
Completing quality checks and ensuring compliance with installation standards
Supporting and mentoring Tier 1 installers where required
Escalating technical or safety issues promptly
Skills and experience
Ideally 1 to 2 years’ solar PV installation experience
Confident installing independently with minimal supervision
Strong knowledge of flat roof, trapezoidal steel and pitched roof systems
Able to square roofs, plan layouts and interpret string designs
Competent with MC4 crimping and DC terminations
Comfortable fault finding and DC testing using a multimeter
Good understanding of fire safety requirements for PV installs
Safety and compliance
Able to work to CPPs and RAMS
Confident completing Dynamic Risk Assessments
Understands isolation procedures
Safe manual handling of panels and awkward loads
Comfortable working at height
Mandatory training and certification
IPAF
CSCS and Working at Height
Manual Handling
Asbestos Awareness
Harness Training
First Aid where required
Completion of all Elevate Tier 1 modules and competency sign off
What you’ll need
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Flexibility for nationwide travel and regular overnight stays
