Summary
Operates diagnostic imaging equipment and performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with department policy and procedures. Works within the standards of ethics of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Clinical Practice Standards of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). Collaborates with physicians to perform specialized procedures. Sets up and adjusts equipment, positions patients to obtain optimal images while respecting their comfort, and obtains necessary patient information.
Provides radiation protection to patients and staff, recognizes emergent situations, and assists other areas as needed. Adheres to Parkview Standards of Behavior.
Education
Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training.
License/Certification
Registered by ARRT; advanced certification encouraged if applicable. May work with a student permit granted by the Indiana State Board of Health for six months post-graduation, after which a valid Indiana State Board of Health license is required. CPR certification is required.
Experience
Previous experience preferred but not required; experience in a similar role is beneficial.
Other Qualifications
Knowledge of imaging various anatomical structures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., shared lifting of 100 lbs., excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, ability to take call, multitask, and work independently with critical thinking skills.
