Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist performs high‑quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, assists physicians in the evaluation and treatment of patients, and ensures patient safety and comfort. The technologist independently elects and adheres to imaging protocols, verifies patient identification, and produces accurate reproducing results.

Essential Functions
  • Perform all ultrasound procedures independently, adhering to department protocols.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure the appropriate procedures are ordered and acknowledged before imaging.
  • Recognize and document pathologies during scanning for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assume responsibility for patient care, safety, and comfort during all imaging procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively, following departmental policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Accurately document imaging procedures and patient information in the electronic health record system, ensuring all associated documents are scanned into PACS for radiologist interpretation.
  • Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of imaging materials and coordinate inventory replenishment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of clinical experience as an Ultrasound Technologist (required).
  • 2–4 years of clinical experience as an Ultrasound Technologist (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in ultrasound imaging techniques and equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to diagnostic sonography.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate imaging and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions within scope of practice.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
Licenses & Certifications
  • (S) – ARDMS or ARRT – Sonography certification or registry eligibility required.
  • BCLS – Basic Life Support obtained within 7 days of employment required.
