The Quality Control Technician is responsible for executing the corporate quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. This position will maintain a food safety culture and require all employees to participate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Enhance and execute the corporate quality control program for all products based on HACCP, SQF, and other approved third‑party audit standards.
  • Provide inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle.
  • Act as a management liaison for the company to external labs and vendors.
  • Present and live a quality standard throughout the organization, moving the company toward a higher quality culture and helping employees understand their role in that culture.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the food safety fundamentals.
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Follow USDA and FDA guidelines.
  • Ensure the safety of the wash tank in regard to the USDA approximate rule of 4–5 hours.
  • Communicate to the lead if there are changes or problems noticed during a quality check.
  • Calibrate equipment used during food processing on a weekly and bimonthly basis.
  • Provide farmer audits on a weekly basis.
  • Perform at least two checks per hour from the packers, verifying dirt, loss, and leakers to ensure a wholesome product.
  • Verify that each requirement stated on the carton is matched by the corresponding grower capable of fulfilling those needs.
  • Verify machine cleanliness during a morning pre‑op; if a food safety concern arises, take necessary measures to ensure product safety.
  • Maintain constant checks of the cooler to ensure the safety of finished product and nest run eggs brought into the facility’s cooler.
  • Make occasional checks of restrictions to ensure compliance with USDA standards.
  • Verify if the carton stamped would be best by or sell by and calculate the correct number of days.
  • Verify that growers listed for packing comply with the specified standard for specific cartons.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; one year of related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  • Knowledgeable in using scales, thermometers, and pH meters.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is a plus.
