The successful applicant for this role will be a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience, capable of applying a range of skills and methods to solve challenging engineering problems both independently and as part of a small team.
We value and develop a full breath of capabilities in our Engineers therefore the successful candidate will be capable of turning their hand to both design (from concepts through to component & assembly release) and analytical methods such as Multi Body Dynamics, mathematical modelling and Finite Element Analysis.
The role
As a Mechanical Engineer in our small and agile team, you’ll lead and contribute to projects that demand bothcreative designandanalytical depth, including:
- System & Component Designusing CAD and FEA tools
- Multi-body systems analysis, simulation, math modelling
- First Principles Engineering— hand calculations, mathematical modelling and simulation to challenge assumptions, validate ideas and develop innovative solutions
- Client-Facing Delivery— from concept to presentation, with clear, high-quality reporting & communication
- Cross-Sector Innovation— apply your skills across automotive, aerospace and more
- Supplier & Project Management— own the technical narrative and programme delivery
Who You Are
You’re not just a design engineer — you’re aproblem solverwho questions everything and builds from fundamentals. You bring:
- Mechanical design from concept to production
- Simulation proficiency (e.g. FEA, MBD, mathematical modelling, etc.)
- Confident in hand calculations, pragmatic estimation and analytical validation
- Experience and understanding of chassis and suspension design principles
- Multi-body systems analysis in MSC ADAMS
- Simulation and modelling in MATLAB/Simulink
- Hands on experience in a testing or development environment
- Comfortable with scripting and writing macros in languages such as VBA
Qualifications, competencies and requirements
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering (2:1 or above) is preferred, Bachelor’s, Automotive Engineering and Aerospace Engineering will be considered. PhD in an appropriate field will be an advantage
- Strong A-levels (or equivalent), especially in Maths and Physics
- Competency in communication with colleagues and customers
