• Direct project responsibility for design and development of new and improved products. Performance against schedule affects commitments made in the division business plan.
• Recommends product specifications, drawings, documents and changes as they pertain to new products or product modifications.
• R&D engineers are responsible for leading and supporting projects as part of a cross‑functional global team. This highly collaborative position requires excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Projects involve requirements definition, developing test methods, writing test protocols, reports, performing verification testing, solving test or design issues and other types of mechanical engineering activities.

• Use the concurrent engineering process to design and develop new and improved medical devices on a project management assignment basis.
• Review design objectives with marketing and management and ensure product design meets objectives.
• Support the creation of project plans and schedules developed with project teams.
• Coordinate the development of prototypes and lab testing samples and fixtures.
• Act as technical leader on assigned projects, typically within larger scaled programs.
• Formulate and approve product specifications, materials, assemblies and processes.
• Work concurrently with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering groups to start up production of new and improved products.
• Research external market information on new materials and processes related to the design and improvement of the product lines.
• Review and analyze costs to identify, plan and implement cost improvements. Conduct design review meetings in accordance with procedures.
• Communicate to supervisor and all levels of management. Perform and/or supervise development testing.
• Perform design control activities, including user needs assessment, product performance specifications, hazards analysis, DFMEA, design verification and validation.
• May direct the activities of junior level engineers and other cross‑functional resources on projects with moderate technical risk.
• Engage in special projects as assigned.

• BS degree in Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in a regulated field or environment (FDA).
• Familiarity with the product development process and engineering principles.
• Experience providing technical solutions to a wide range of problems of moderate to high complexity.
• Experience making decisions between options to solve moderate to complex technical problems.
• Ability to travel approximately up to 15%.

• MS degree in Engineering.
• Complete knowledge of the product development process and engineering principles.
• Demonstrated continuous track record of contributing to new product development from concept to commercialization.
