Location: Primarily Remote – Must live near Johnston, Rhode Island
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Pay Rate: $60-86/hr. on W2
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Substation Owner’s Engineer to oversee substation design, engineering reviews, and construction support, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Review substation designs, electrical drawings, and engineering deliverables.
- Oversee engineering and construction contractors.
- Prepare project estimates, feasibility studies, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Support field assessments, construction activities, and technical issue resolution.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and engineering standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
Electrical preferred. - Minimum 5 years of electric utility substation design experience
. - Experience with transmission and distribution substations and BOM preparation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of NESC
. - Experience preparing estimates, feasibility studies, and technical reports.
- Valid driver’s license and authorization to work without sponsorship.
- Candidates must reside near Johnston, Rhode Island
. - Primarily remote, with approximately 5 onsite visits annually and additional project-related travel as needed.
- Must be comfortable with fieldwork, including accessing manholes and vaults when required.
