Third Party Analyst

Job Summary

Under the direction of the A/R Supervisor, the Third Party Analyst will maintain the management of Care New England accounts receivable. The role involves following up on current, past‑due accounts and secondary balances with third‑party payers on claims that are denied or unpaid beyond the contracted timeframe, assisting the supervisor with reporting, analyzing and trending of accounts receivable, and acting as a collections liaison to patients, providers and insurance carriers to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

• Maintain accounts receivable by aged categories.
• Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, and internal/external staff to obtain reimbursement on claims.
• Effectively utilize reports to resolve assigned accounts within established time frames.
• Accurately document account history in computer systems per department policies.
• Inform the supervisor of denial trends and/or negative factors impacting accounts receivable.
• Apply Care New England procedures and policies for charity care, community benefit discounts, contractual adjustments, and patient discounts.
• Adhere to insurance and governmental guidelines to prevent denials and collection disruptions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of accounts receivable payment policies and hospital contracts related to billing, collection, follow‑up, claim reimbursement, patient liability, and state/federal programs.
• Review third‑party credits and determine if adjustment, refund, or recoup is warranted.
• Handle and process all incoming phone calls, emails, and mail correspondence swiftly to support continuous collections.
• Preserve patients' confidentiality rights.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

• High school degree required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of related experience in a healthcare environment or accounts receivable.
• Knowledge of third‑party payers, medical terminology, word processing, statistical tools, and computer applications, including Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and typing skills, and ability to exercise sound decision‑making and judgment in handling accounts receivable.
