Are you looking to start a career in payroll and gain a nationally recognised qualification while earning? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Payroll team as a Payroll Apprentice, where you’ll learn, develop and make a real impact from day one.
About the roleAs a Payroll Apprentice, you’ll play an active role in supporting the delivery of a customer-focused payroll service. You will work alongside experienced colleagues to help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, while contributing to continuous service improvements. This role will support you to complete a Level 3 Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship, giving you the skills, knowledge and experience needed to build a successful career in payroll.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Supporting day-to-day payroll processes, including inputting data and basic calculations
- Responding to customer queries and providing excellent service
- Assisting with payroll-related projects and administrative tasks
- Producing and maintaining accurate data and reports
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Helping identify opportunities to improve processes and simplify ways of working
- Using technology, automation and AI tools to improve payroll efficiency, accuracy and service delivery
We’re looking for someone who is motivated, organised and keen to learn. You’ll also have:
Essential- GCSEs (Grade 9–4) or equivalent in English and Maths
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office and Outlook)
- Ability to manage your time and meet deadlines
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to travel to work settings when required
- Earn while you learn with a recognised qualification
- Gain valuable experience in a professional payroll environment
- Work in a supportive team with opportunities to develop
- Be part of a service that makes a real difference

This role is an Apprenticeship First role which means this position will progress into a permanent role as a Workforce Assistant in Payroll, subject to successful completion of the apprenticeship and suitable performance.
