Ward Clerk - Maternity

Position within South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Support the clinical team on Maternity Labour Ward and Swan Ward with clerical and administrative duties.
  • Enter, maintain and retrieve data from various databases, including the Lorenzo system.
  • Organise and maintain healthcare records of all women accessing maternity services.
  • Create and maintain a filing process for all maternity documentation and archive accurately.
  • Scan correspondence onto the electronic Maternity System.
  • Keep databases and reports up to date.
  • Assist the wider team with other clerical duties.
  • Order stationery when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Serve as first point of contact for women and families accessing Maternity Services, demonstrating a welcoming demeanor in person and on the phone.
  • Work under supervision, meet deadlines, prioritise work according to differing demands from staff.
  • Handle oral messages, answer telephone queries, receive and sort/distribute incoming mail.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the post’s band, as agreed with line manager.
Qualifications
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent education or experience.
Experience
  • Experience with IT systems.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills
  • Willingness to develop new skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
Personal Qualities
  • Team worker.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Clear communication in writing and verbally.
Other Requirements
  • Flexibility.
