Position: Bid Writer / Bid Team Leader

Our client is a successful and well‑established manufacturer. They are looking for an experienced Bid or Tender Writer to join them as the Bid Team Leader (Public Sector) reporting directly to the Commercial Operations Manager.

The primary focus is to produce tenders and quotations and process orders from UK councils after successful bids. You'll work closely with Sales Managers and Technical teams to deliver tailored, high‑quality bid responses, manage the end‑to‑end bid process, and ensure seamless order processing following successful bids. This office‑based role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple bids to tight deadlines, and a passion for exceeding customer expectations.

& Hours
  • Salary up to £42,500 pa DOE
  • Hours of Work:
    Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Requirements
  • Proven experience producing public sector tenders, quotations, or bids.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement regulations, public sector frameworks, and contract documentation.
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a keen eye for detail.
  • Confident using Excel and Word; GCSEs or equivalent required.
  • Leadership and team coordination skills, with a desire to learn and grow in a commercial environment.
  • Flexibility to meet tight deadlines and attend off‑site meetings as required.
Responsibilities
  • Proficient bid writing skills – unaided by AI platforms in the first instance (a short written paper will form part of the interview process).
  • Produce accurate and persuasive tenders and quotations for public sector clients.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers and Technical teams to configure offers and respond to customer requirements.
  • Manage the full bid process from initial enquiry to order confirmation, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Adapt and create bespoke written responses to maximise evaluation scores.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, compliance, and customer service throughout all bid activities.
Ideal Candidate

This role would suit someone with previous experience in bid writing or tender preparation within the Public Sector. Anyone with a background in the automotive manufacturing industry will have an advantage. Previous job titles could include Bid Writer, Bids & Tenders Coordinator, Proposal Writer, Tender Writer, Bid Coordinator, Proposal Manager, Bid Author, Submission Coordinator, Bids Co‑ordinator or similar.
