We are looking for an experienced and passionate Behaviour Safety Manager to lead the next stage of our safety culture journey. This position is based from our Warwick office; however we offer flexible hybrid working options. As a Behaviour Safety Manager this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of health, safety and wellbeing across NGET at a time of unprecedented growth and transformation.
You will help create a culture where people are empowered to speak up, learn, innovate and perform safely, enabling us to deliver the critical infrastructure required for Britain's clean energy future.
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding a positive, learning-focused, and psychologically safe culture across NGET. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the NGET Safe & Well Strategy
, ensuring it is fully integrated into our ways of working and underpinned by Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles. This is an exciting opportunity to influence behaviours, leadership, organisational learning and operational excellence at scale, helping to create an environment where everyone feels safe to stop, safe to say, safe to learn and empowered to make safe choices.
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the NGET Safe & Well Strategy.
- Embed Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles across NGET, supporting a shift towards a proactive learning culture.
- Develop and deliver behavioural safety, safety leadership and cultural improvement programmes aligned with National Grid's Safe & Well framework.
- Work with senior leaders, operational teams and contractors to strengthen psychological safety, organisational learning and workforce engagement.
- Develop meaningful measures and insights to assess safety culture maturity and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead cultural diagnostics, surveys, workshops and engagement activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Champion a just and fair culture approach, ensuring learning is prioritised over blame.
- Support the application of HOP principles within incident investigation, learning reviews and shared learning processes.
- Partner with business leaders and contractors to create sustainable improvements in safety performance and organisational effectiveness.
- Represent NGET internally and externally on behavioural safety, culture and HOP-related initiatives.
- Strong safety background, with significant experience in behavioural safety, safety culture development or organisational performance within a high‑hazard complex organisation.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.
- Proven experience developing and delivering organisational culture change programmes.
- Experience influencing and engaging senior leaders and operational teams.
- Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using data and insight to drive cultural and behavioural improvements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels.
- Knowledge of psychological safety, organisational learning and contemporary safety thinking would be highly advantageous.
A competitive salary between £57,000 – £70,000 dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
