Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Join Exhall Grange Specialist School, a 4-19 maintained school located in Coventry, to work with a diverse and complex cohort of pupils in our primary setting.

Role Overview

You will support pupils in a supportive and nurturing provision, working closely with a team to deliver high-quality teaching and assessment for pupils with complex special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils’ learning, progress and development with complex special educational needs.
  • Plan and deliver learning activities aligned with curriculum areas that support pupils.
  • Use communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, AAC devices and other resources to develop pupils' understanding and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff and external professionals to monitor and review pupil progress.
Qualifications
  • A passion for supporting pupils to learn to the best of their ability.
  • Recognised NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent knowledge, experience and skills.
  • At least GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade A–C.
  • Strong understanding of complex special educational needs and Autism.
  • Detailed understanding of curriculum areas that support pupils with complex special educational needs.
  • Considerable experience of supporting the learning, progress and development of pupils with complex special educational needs.
  • Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting.
  • Experience of using a range of communication strategies.

  • Salary: £31,022 – £33,699 full‑time equivalent (equating to £23,542 – £25,574 per annum for 32.5 hours per week).
