Role:
Head of Design and Technology (DT) at an Ofsted Good 11-18 secondary academy in Lewisham (inner London), part of a respected Multi-Academy Trust. The school seeks an innovative and creative leader to head a small DT team and to inspire students across KS3 and to grow the DT offering to KS4 and KS5. The school has excellent facilities and DT machinery.

Salary: Enhanced MPS/UPS inner London + TLR

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Start date: April 2026 or sooner

Aston Education is working with the school to recruit a Head of DT who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

• Lead and develop a small Design and Technology department; inspire and progress students from KS3 and expand provision to KS4 and KS5.
• Promote innovative and creative approaches to Design and Technology teaching.
• Collaborate with the broader school and MAT to deliver high-quality DT facilities and learning experiences.
• Utilise data effectively to monitor and raise student achievement and progress in DT.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to department-wide improvements.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Honours degree in a Design and Technology subject.
• Experience teaching the subject at KS3 and KS4 with good knowledge of A-Levels.
• Outstanding classroom practitioner with an excellent track record of progress and results.
• Proven ability to raise educational standards and achievement; skilled in data analysis and use.
