At Avon Valley School, we’re looking for a passionate Pastoral Leader to join our team and lead on strategies that nurture resilience, inclusion and positive relationships. This dynamic, people‑focused role gives you daily opportunities to positively impact the lives of students.
The Role & Responsibilities- Student Wellbeing:
Act as a primary point of contact for students requiring emotional or social support. - Behaviour Management:
Implement the school’s behaviour policy fairly and consistently, conducting restorative conversations and managing interventions. - Attendance & Engagement:
Monitor attendance patterns and work proactively with families to improve student engagement. - Safeguarding:
Act as a champion for child protection, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). - Liaison:
Build strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies (Social Care, CAMHS, etc.) to provide holistic support.
- Have experience working with young people, preferably in an educational or youth work setting.
- Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with empathy and firmness.
- Be highly organised and capable of maintaining detailed student records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all children.
