Graduate Organ Scholar

The Music departments of King's High School and St. Mary's church present an ideal opportunity for an excellent and enthusiastic candidate to develop their skills and gain valuable experience as a member of our outstanding team, working across both settings.

The post-holder will work in the Music Departments of St Mary’s Church and King’s High School, and will be fully involved in the musical life of both. They will be expected to undertake reasonable administrative duties in both institutions.

We are looking for a candidate educated to degree level, with at least GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C/Level 4 (or equivalent). The ideal applicant will possess competent piano accompanist skills with the ability to play the organ to a high standard. Excellent sight-reading skills are essential, as is a genuine commitment to developing as a musician. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, professionalism and a positive attitude towards learning, alongside a willingness to embrace constructive feedback and continuous improvement.

The appointment runs from the beginning of September until the Sunday after school term ends in the summer (usually around the middle of July) and includes duties over Christmas and Easter. The salary is £15,429 (Point 11) King’s High (term time only) and £8,485 (Point 15) for St Mary’s (all year).

Roughly 25 hours a week will be worked at King’s High, Monday-Friday. The hours at St Mary’s - approximately 12.5 hours a week - span Monday-Sunday but will usually include two days free of Church duties (Thursday and Saturday).
