We're looking for a Group Electrical Safety Manager to provide strategic leadership and governance for Electrical Safety across National Grid Group. This is a high-impact role that blends technical expertise, strategic oversight, and cross-functional collaboration.

This role is based from Warwick and you'll be flexible to weekly travel throughout the UK with occasional travel to the US.

What you'll do

Group Safety Management System

  • Provide electrical technical expertise and advice to inform the Group Safety Management System, aligning to UK law and U.S. regulatory frameworks and best practices.

Assurance & Governance

  • Develop and lead the Group's Electrical Safety Assurance strategy, fostering collaboration with second-line functions and engaging Corporate Audit and external specialists, as needed, to support third-line assurance activities.
  • Provide strategic input into ongoing construction and major capital project reviews when requested, ensuring Electrical Safety risks are managed throughout the asset lifecycle.

Incident Investigation & Data Insight

  • Provide expert support (when requested) in investigating significant Electrical Safety incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions, including sharing of lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with Data & Reporting teams to establish systems for accurate data collection, analysis, and trends.

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Serve as a trusted advisor across National Grid, offering expert guidance to operational leaders and Electrical Safety stakeholders on electrical safety risks.
  • Represent National Grid in industry forums, regulatory engagements, and collaborative networks to influence standards and share best practices.

Systems Integration & Collaboration

  • Support the development and revision of Safety policies and Group level procedures, ensuring they are current, compliant, and aligned with strategic goals.
About you
  • Strong understanding of electrical assets and operational activities across transmission and distribution networks.
  • Exposure to international standards and ability to integrate best practices across UK and US operations.
  • Proven experience in electrical environments, with comprehensive knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation and its application to high-voltage electrical networks.
  • Skilled in assessing electrical safety risks and leading incident investigations.
  • Auditor qualifications (e.g., IRCA, ISO 45001) or significant internal audit experience.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports for technical and executive audiences.
  • Committed to workplace safety and operational excellence.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assess complex technical and organisational risks.
  • Confident communicator with ability to influence and coach senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, building trust and alignment.
  • Resilient under pressure, able to manage competing priorities and deliver results in dynamic environments.
  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) level authorisation for HV systems (current or previous).
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in occupational health and safety.
What you'll get

A competitive salary between £60,000 - £70,000 - dependent on capability.
