The Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been established to initially deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects to help us deliver on our net zero ambitions and help the UK Government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030.

Overview

Join us as a Planning Engineer within our SI Offshore Engineering team. You'll coordinate and manage system access and critical resource requirements across the SI portfolio of projects (Onshore and Offshore), delivered under the ASTI framework.

You'll be accountable for covering all planning timescales from current year through to strategic timescales. Your work will ensure timely and complete delivery of enabling, wider, and commissioning works. You'll also engage effectively with stakeholders, evaluate cost/risk/performance trade-offs, and optimise delivery outcomes.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to regular travel throughout England and Scotland, depending on the project.

Key accountabilities
  • Provide technical input into the prioritisation, sequencing and interface management of various projects within geographical region.
  • Validate and govern all requests for system access and critical resources to ensure accuracy of requirements on behalf of SI, prior to submission into core planning systems.
  • Coordinate change management and work prioritisation across all planning timescales.
  • Collaborate across all project delivery teams to ensure optimised work is delivered in the correct sequence.
About you
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to make complex technical decisions.
  • The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across the NGET business and all Delivery Vehicles.
  • Excellent technical understanding of the electricity industry coupled with strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of the Planning Processes across all work types, and planning framework BP502.
  • Detailed working knowledge of system access planning processes and understanding of Grid Code OC2 requirements.
  • Ability to apply and interpret the cost/risk/performance prioritisation framework.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing and prioritising conflicts within all timescales.
  • Preferred experience in; ENAMS, OPPM, P6 and Digital Planning Tool.
  • Minimum HNC (NVQ Level 4 qualification) preferably in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.

A competitive salary between £54,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability.
