Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Your new companyYou will be joining a respected and long-established Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Consultancy known for delivering high-quality design and technical advisory services. The business operates across a wide range of sectors including commercial, industrial, education, health, leisure, hotel and residential projects, supporting both new-build and refurbishment schemes throughout the UK. Your new roleAs a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take a leading role in delivering electrical building services designs, contributing technical expertise across a variety of live projects while supporting the development of junior  this role, you will:

Lead electrical building services design across multiple concurrent projects

Produce and review electrical calculations, specifications, reports and drawings

Oversee the design of lighting, LV distribution, power, fire alarms, security, data and other building systems

Coordinate closely with Mechanical Engineers, CAD/Revit technicians and external project partners

Conduct site visits, condition surveys, inspections and client/contractor meetings

Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations, industry standards and project requirements

Provide guidance, mentorship and technical oversight to junior and intermediate engineers

Contribute to project planning, technical solutions, quality assurance and client communication

Projects you will work on:

Commercial office buildings and workplace redesigns

Industrial and manufacturing facilities

Education facilities

Healthcare environments

Hotels, leisure and hospitality buildings

Residential and mixed-use developments

MOD and secure-infrastructure projects requiring robust electrical engineering design

These sectors align with the consultancy's proven experience across the UK property and construction industry. Software used:

You will work with industry-standard design and modelling tools, including AutoCAD, electrical design packages, and additional platforms the consultancy invests in to support high-quality engineering output. What you'll need to succeedStrong experience delivering Electrical Building Services designs within a consultancy environment

Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering Confident in leading design packages, coordinating teams, and managing client communication

Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS standards and electrical systems

Ability to support and mentor junior team members

Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

Desirable: experience across any of the consultancy's key project sectors, including MOD or secure-environment projectsWhat you'll get in returnSalary: £50,000-£65,000, depending on experience
