About the role
National Energy System Operator (NESO) recognises the potential of bright and talented individuals, and we encourage you to join us as Great Britain’s energy system undergoes an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
Due to the rapid pace of change in the energy sector, we need to fundamentally reform the connections process to ensure that it delivers the best outcomes both for customers and electricity consumers. As a result, we are taking forward various reforms (short, medium and longer‑term) to address these challenges and have put our customers and stakeholders at the heart of this change.
These changes and new processes will significantly speed up and improve the current arrangements that are no longer fit for purpose given the pace at which we need to transform our energy system. The Project Assurance Analyst will be key in delivering these reforms.
You will be part of an agile team to build, test and implement solutions to optimise the connections reform processes, ensuring the customer is always at the heart of any decisions. Your role will involve process governance, controls and reviews, validating compliance with deliverables and tactical implementation of initiatives which will continuously improve the connections process for our customers in the short to medium term.
You will be responsible for owning and managing relationships with key internal stakeholders to gather insight on complex connections processes. You will use this insight to lead on the creation and implementation of assurance processes, ensuring compliance within the wider connections team.
This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
About UsNational Energy System Operator (NESO) has a key role to play in tackling climate change by transitioning GB’s electricity system to net zero. We already operate the fastest decarbonising electricity system in the world, with an ambition for zero carbon power operation by 2030 when there is sufficient renewable generation. We are also providing advice to the Government on achieving a decarbonised power system by 2030.
So, join the energy transformation and help shape the future.
Your energy, our future, together.
About The National Energy System Operator (NESO) (External)In Autumn of 2024, the ESO transitioned to National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator is the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.
NESO, including all of its existing roles, are now at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users’ need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade‑offs between them.
The organisation is set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As was the ESO, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.
